In the southwest corner of Canada's Northwest Territories lies a region called the Dehcho (Slavey for Big River). Mostly populated by the Dene & Metis, this region consists of 8 small villages along the great Mackenzie river. After living in Fort Simpson, NT for three years, I have a place reserved in my heart for the land and the strong, beautiful people who live to protect it.
