While studying professional photography in Montreal, QC, I lived in the Eastern quartier (neighborhood) of Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. The residents in the area were mainly lower-income Quebecois. During the evening, it wasn't uncommon to see children playing in the streets, later followed by the prostitutes 'till the early hours of the morning. During my two years of residency, I noticed a strength in my neighbors as well as a warm, generous sense of humor. It was this side of the quartier I strove to capture.
